We focused on clear levels, structured beds, and considered planting to create a garden that is both practical and visually striking:

Foreground (Patio & First Bed)

• Covered terrace or modern pergola with dark structural beams, offering shelter and style.

• Long, narrow raised planting bed edged in pale stone for a clean, contemporary line.

• Planting includes tulips (late-spring), young green perennials, and freshly worked soil for a spring-ready display.

Middle Level

​

• Low retaining wall of light sandstone adds warmth and structural definition.

• Dense, layered planting behind the wall includes:

• Rounded evergreen shrubs (e.g., box or alternatives) for sculptural form.

• Small ornamental tree, possibly olive, to add height and Mediterranean character.

• A mix of perennials and shrubs curated for texture, colour and seasonal interest.

Upper Level (Lawn & Seating)

​

• Neatly maintained lawn on the top terrace, gently sloping for a soft, open feel.

• Seating area with light-coloured woven outdoor furniture for relaxation and entertaining.

• Mature greenery and hedging provide privacy and a natural backdrop.

The Result

The finished garden combines formal structure with lush, inviting planting. Terraces and retaining walls create visual interest and order, while layered shrubs, perennials and trees soften the geometry. The garden is private, functional and ideal for entertaining, with carefully designed sightlines and areas for relaxation.
